Junior cycle reform is a very topical issue in education at the minute. There are many changes to the junior cycle including increased focus on literacy and numeracy and wellbeing. In an article in the Irish Times, Humphreys states that the wellbeing subject “will incorporate physical education, relationships and sexuality and anti-bullying programmes” (Humphreys, 2015). Personally I believe that these changes are for the best and they will improve the learning experience for students. The reformed junior cycle encourages ‘learning to learn’ rather than rote learning.
